Fundj, Robyn's words are very wise.  You always made the decision that you believed to be the best at the time, don't live with regrets, simply go forward with your head held high and a smile on your face.  No one is perfect, and I'm sure your kids are proud of you, even if they never say it or, perhaps, don't even realise it yet.  One day they will and that's your reward for your hard work.

What a deep and meaningful thread this has turned into.  Never live with regrets is my motto and I can say that because I know I have done my best for my family throughout my lifetime - to be there when they need you is the most important bit of advice I can give.  Most of us needed to work when our kids were young if we were to get ahead and I was lucky to have a boss who let me knock off early every day so that I could be home for the kids after school - it was the best of both worlds really and I know how lucky I was to work for a man like that.  DD2 works 3 days a week, sometimes 4 but has a good support system around her for looking after the kids but on one occasion when GD was not feeling well and wanted her Mum to stay home with her, she was told Mum had to go to work to get the money to buy all the things they wanted and have holidays etc - haven't we got enough already was this little 6 year old's reply.  That said it all.  Sometimes I think today's busy parents need to slow down and smell the roses.

On a lighter note, with us all having the TMX & a love of food in common, most of us would hit it off if we were to meet I would think.  Of course there are always exceptions to every rule but those I've met so far have been everything and more than I expected they would be.

Just like the Freemasons had a secret handshake, perhaps we can identify ourselves when shopping for fruit and vegetables, we can balance on our right leg as we pick the fruit? 

Seriously, I like the idea of a pin   The pin fits every body shape, and is easy to transfer onto garments. Would be ideal at "catch ups" and attending events like expo's, food demo's, cooking classes etc and is probably the cheapest optiion with regard to postage. Any graphic designers or the like amongst us?

Fundj we are given life in 60 sec pieces that is what you need to make the most of, I am sure your family would be saddened to think that you are beating yourself up at the way you played your hand when it was dealt. We all endeavour to do what we believe is the best thing at the time.  Thank you for sharing a little of your amazing life.

Ha ha . . . Cream Puff . . . I was thinking just the same thing!!  Or a password.  Maybe we could just mutter 'varoma' or something very tmxish under our breaths when we pass people in the supermarket.

On a more serious note . . . I hear what you say Fundj.  I have 3 kids too and was devoted to being a stay at home mum when my first two were little, then busy running around after the other two when number 3 came along, then studying and working full time.  I often feel remiss that he has missed out, but I too feel comforted by some of the comments from members on this forum.  One thing that Ihave noticed in my own third child is that he has very close relationships with his siblings, in fact his older sister just had him to stay with her in the school holidays and I often get a lot of pleasure listening to him and his older brother laughing together from the play room while I run around like a blue bottomed fly!!  So I like to think, while he missed out on maternal attention that the other two had, there have been other positive relationships going on for him . . . Swings and roundabouts I guess . . . as Johnro says "We all endeavour to do what we believe is the best thing at the time."   


Oh and Lee, if you want to see the penguins in Phillip Island when you're in Australia you must pop by for a tmx treat on the way!!

fundj so sorry to hear your sad...i was so tired i went to bed early yesterday and didnt see your message until now!  No number 3 for me with us living so far from oz....we prefer to keep it at 2 for quality of life and travelling etc  but thats our choice

with regards to parents working I wouldnt worry fundj..;they are very lucky they have parents who work hard to give them a good life and yes its nice to slow down but sometimes thats the price to pay for the style of life your after...I am a stay at home mum since my kids were born ie was never planned like that but due to circumstances is how everything turned out and DH is an executive and works incredibly long hours and is lucky if he gets home before the kids are asleep and maybe sees them for 5 mins in teh morning but they have me all the time and you know what they complain they cant go to the garderie or after school day care etc like their friends as most parents work adn their kids spend a couple of hours at after school daycare here because most parents cant get to pick them up at 4.30...what im trying to say is kids are never happy...i try to explain that they are lucky that I am able to stay at home and take care of them but they dont see it that way even when I say it allows them to have what they want to be able to travel and experience so much...it is also lonely being the only one there for them...all my girlfriends work so I have long days with plenty to do but not much adult interaction except for hte odd lunch with a friend between work hours...i think you either accept a simpler life and be home alot more or work hard and achieve what you want witout going too far ...cant have it both ways and I think as adults we are never happy either..i just went through a few hard months of alot going on and not liking our lifesstyle ie DH never here and me wiht the kids alllll the time and only me but we woudnt be able to be free to live our lives the way we do if he didnt work so hard and if I didnt deal with everything else...Also I thnk its important to show your children that hard work is important and just getting by is never fun.  Im sure you are a great mum and as long as you are there when they really need you thats all that matters

I have to agree that a good motto is 'no regrets'. When my Mum was alive I know I did my very best for her at the time. Now occasionally I have regrets and if only's. DH points out to me that I did my best with the circumstances. So don't feel sad fellow TMXers.

I'd love to be able to pick TMX owners out at the supermarket. Perhaps I'll try taking my EDC with me. I'd love a pin that you could put on whatever you are wearing. I often look at what people have  in their trollies and when I see heaps of cakes, biscuits and bread I almost have to stop myself saying 'you could make those much more cheapily.' DH says I'd get hit with the hardest of them if I did.

I think the button is a good idea, fundj.  I have been to a wool show with a friend who is a knitter.  She wore a label of some sort so she could be recognised by other knitters who belonged to her Forum.  It worked very well.  Questions....could you have a TMX on the button? What about copy right?   Could consultants have them to sell?  It would have to be  one design so as to be easily recognised.  Many questions.  What do other think?

Cookie, I'd be careful where you put the EDC in your shopping trolley.  I had a whole heap of shopping bags stolen from my trolley when my back was turned.  Remember there are no plastic bags in SA (you pay for bio-degradable ones at the checkout) and someone had obviously forgotten to bring their own supply. Luckily my handbag was over my shoulder at the time otherwise that would probably have gone too.  I now safeguard them using the child restraint straps.
