Wow, those photos are great!
As for the dishwasher, we got it 2nd hand and didn't pay much for it. That being said it is now dead.

When I was researching appliances for my kitchen a lot of people told me to stay away from the 2 drawer dishwashers as that was intially what I wanted. So I bought a Bosch and it is a terrific dishwasher - mind you it is only 10 months old - but it is constantly in use. Time will tell.

Dishwasher was first on my wishlist so like to hear the comments, and I've been kind of hoping our 11yo too small fridge will go soon, bought when we were poor, clueless and with only 1 baby never thinking we would require bigger. And tonight with joy I feel the fridge part isnt cold, although freezer still ok. So measured up the maximum space and off fridge shopping tomorrow. I shouldn't be so happy about a dying fridge.  Really want to throw in a dishwasher on the card, but hubby I know wants to buy us one for Xmas.

Fridges are fridges right?  Or are there differences I should know about apart from size, please share as I'm still clueless.   Anyhoo things are starting to improve on the domestic goddess part, I had a scrap of material and mum made my first ever apron!  Ive been wearing it all night and it makes me want to bake.  I match my kitchen stools I recovered.

This thread is fascinating. Many thanks to all for sharing in such a generous manner something about themselves.  I haven't responded to any posts as i can't get over how much our kitchens say about most of us.  I am not about to change my Avatar as it is very dear to my heart as my GD drew it . My name is obvious and I have had Chooks for more than 40 years.  There are now 5 generations of 'Chook woman" in the family. I have posted pictures of myself when I have had cooking demos so will not bother again.  I will try and post some photos of my kitchen and pantry.  Sorry that one of the panty shops is bit fuzzy. The Icecream machine, Ice maker and Crock Pot live in the Laundry,  with the 2 upright Freezers and the 'bottle ' fridge.
The double oven is a St. George, (electric),  Gas burners.  In the pantry is the large fridge,(on the right) and next to it, 2 roll out/pull out German designed cupboards.  Behind these,  in the corner is a bin with a lift up lid,  where I keep all my bread stuff.  A large sink at the end.  Under the bench on the left are 9 roll out plastic containers where I keep different things,  such as one with Chocolate, one for sugar, one for dried fruit ,etc. All the below bench ,  in the kitchen,  are roll out drawers.  In the corner at the front ,  is a specially designed pull out long / high drawer which swings around as you pull it out , so as to give access to the corner under the bench.  The very bright painting on the right is an Aboriginal Painting.

Chookie that painting is fabulous!!  My horrible hubby won't let me get anymore chooks, our 2 girls got taken by a fox and he's happy to have his lawn back. I adore chooks, they were great pets for the kids.

Love your pantry Chookie.  My chicken run is getting started this weekend. We had chooks when the kids were small before we moved. I agree vivaroo they are wonderful pets, kids used to cart them around and "teach" them tricks. Nothing better than homegrown googs

Lovely to see your photos Chookie but glad the panty one wasn't clear - too much information there ;D
I certainly hope to see your kitchen and property in the flesh one of these days, that chair looks nice and comfy for me to sit in.
The flowers from your garden are gorgeous.

Sorry that one of the panty shops is bit fuzzy.

Frozzie, 1hour round trip to the shops,  not counting the shopping.

CP, Ilove the pantry also, there is a door than can be pulled shut over the mess.  I can also put TMX in there and shut in the noise if it is working and we have visitors.

The large painting is by Gabrielle Possum Nungari.  It is of her GM country.  It is all about food.  There is a river and seed pods bursting, and lots of women gathering food.
From a more practical point of view, we have problems with paintings fading because of the amount of light from all the large windows. This painting is done in acrylics,  and should not fade.

Judy,  you are welcome to come and sit in our comfortable chairs anytime.

What a fabulous kitchen, Chookie - Tarasis will be really, really jealous!

This may not be practical, but if you are having trouble with sun fade, etc. there are films you can get to put on your windows to stop so much UV light getting in.

Choke, my first thought were that I love that painting! We have been looking for art work for our house for so long but I never find anything I think I would love enough to pay the big bucks.

Btw the kitchen is great and looks very well stocked.
