I made the Quiche Lorraine tonight. I can't believe I made a quiche including pastry in under an hour!
Tweaks:
*I threw an onion in with the bacon and chopped them together before sauteeing them together on Varoma temp for 5 minutes (maybe a little too long, it did catch on the bottom a bit, no prob tho).
*It was great for a family meal, maybe if I was having guests I might think about chopping the bacon by hand (to make it look more uniform)...then do it in the TMX anyway!
*I used light milk instead of cream and it worked well.
*I also used my new silicone baking beads on string when doing the pre bake to stop the pastry from rising (and because they were new and I needed to test them out!)
Overall a great 'starter' recipe that I'll be adapting regularly from now on

Never heard of these. Are they like a necklace so you can just lift them off? My beads go everywhere, and are too hot to scoop up when you have to pop the base back in the oven to crisp

Never heard of these. Are they like a necklace so you can just lift them off? My beads go everywhere, and are too hot to scoop up when you have to pop the base back in the oven to crisp

I'd probably buy another packet and use two strings for a large quiche, they are kind of light, but did the job well -soooo much easier than rice or baking beads

These are a good idea. Mine a white and like CP I spill them everywhere.

These sound great. I use rice but don't think it's heavy enough.

I used to use rice, apart from the potential mess, I found that sometimes the pastry would be a little bit sweaty. These beads are not as heavy as I thought they might be, but they did the job nicely. I can weigh them if you are interested.

They weigh 90g. I'm considering another string...but I'm sure they are not necessary
