Stir fry cabbage from the Malaysian cookbook
«
on:

Name of Recipe:
Stir fry cabbage from Easy Cooking, Healthy eating from Malaysia
Number of People:
2
Ingredients:
300g cabbage sliced 1cm thick
50 g carrot - cut into batons
10g garlic
10g oil (I used olive oil)
3 spring onions sliced (optional)
S & P to taste
Preparation:
Place garlic into TM bowl, chop 5 sec/speed 5.
Add oil and saute
2 mins/varoma temperature/speed 1.
Add cabbage, carrot and spring onions if using, fry
10 - 15 mins/varoma temperature/reverse/speed 1.
Add S & P to taste.
Tips/Hints:
In the original recipe the cabbage & carrot were only cooked for 4 minutes but I ended up cooking them for 15 minutes and it was delicious - just how I like my fried cabbage. I'd suggest you check it at 4 mins and see what you think then continue cooking until it is to your taste. I took the MC off for the last 5 minutes.

Do you think it would go well with pork?

JD if I wanted to add diced bacon, would I sauté with garlic or add with cabbage & carrot?
Thanks

Either saute it with the garlic or do it separately in a pan and add at the end DG.

Thanks JD - this was a lovely addition to our roast last week. We like our veggies quite firm (not too soggy) and we four minutes was definitely not enough time
We cooked ours for about 10 mins.

Glad you enjoyed it Tam, I think the addition of the carrot adds some sweetness to it and it sure beats steamed or boiled cabbage

We had this tonight as a side dish with roast pork.
Neither of us really like cabbage, but we both enjoyed this.
I used JD's timings and not the lesser time in the book and it was cooked perfectly
