I’m reading American Gods by Neil Gaiman at the moment for book club. I’m finding it a bit weird. Ghosts appearing, and very ancient history sections. I don’t mind the ancient history but not too sure about the ghosts.
Before that I read Camino Island by John Grisham. I enjoyed that, it was a bit different to his usual books.

I'm now reading The Last of the Bonegilla Girls by Victoria Purman. Bonegilla was a camp where immigrants were settled until they found jobs etc. It is about 4 girls who become friends and their lives that follow. So many parallels with MIL to an extent, and a girlfriends parents. DD tells me it becomes a real tear jerker when related to MIL.

I’m reading Every Note Played by Lisa Genova. It’s about a concert pianist who develops Motor Neurone Disease. We lost a friend to this horrid disease about 18 months ago so it makes it even more relevant.

Do not know if I could read that one , my DM friends like 5 have passed away from MND and it is horrible. But I will put in on my ever growing list . On thing I have learnt re MND is there are two kinds , one starts at the feet is slow , the other starts at the brain and it is fast . Let's hope they find a cure or an ability for a slow down of the disease.

I didn't know that K Atie. Our friend lasted exactly 5 years. His started at his feet and moved up. Absolutely gut wrenching to see it progress.

I've just finished Conclave for book club. It was very interesting. It is about the selection of a new pope. It's a work of fiction and has a lovely twist in the tail.

I've just read The Dark Lake by Sarah Bailey. It wasn't bad. At times I found it a bit muddled but as I read on I couldn't put it down. I have her next one to read, but that will wait a while. I'm reading a Danielle Steel at the moment, not much thinking required there but I enjoy not thinking sometimes.

Katie, I just finished reading A Fortunate Life a couple of weeks ago. You are right about how tough times were in those day.
I am now reading Night Watch, one that DH brought home from the library.

Not often that I do this but have decided A Life To Come is not a great read and it is put away . The passage to love - Alex Miller is my next book club read , huge book but next edition will be a third of the size . Bonus ,Great large print . Hopefully getting back into reading mode .

K Atie i do that sometimes. Some books are just not worth your time. My latest bookclub book was 'frothy'. The lass that gets them was on holidays and someone else chose this. It wasn't too good. A sort of romance but not well written and ever so predictable. I enjoy a good romance but this was erk!!!!! It was set on the coast of Wales and the best part was the lovely descriptions.
I'm reading Michael Robotham's latest now.

Also reading the The Suspect. Not one of Robotham's best. My barber recommended The Tattooist of Auschwitz.  Not sure about it but she is riveted.
