The things we do when we feel like cooking  :-))  I've been tearing recipes out of dozens of old magazines so that I can get rid of them and this was one of them - cherry meringues.  A messy job and I don't know how they'll keep but I've already eaten 4 warm ones.  I doubt I would be bothered making them again because if I was making them for visitors I probably wouldn't have time to do fiddly things like this at the last minute. Recipe from Super Food Ideas. I only did half quantity and they are nice.

Yes cookie, whole large cherries coated in the meringue.  I pitted mine first, the recipe left them in and and the stem on but they're easier to eat without the stone.

They look lovely Judy, I hate having to eat round the stone in fruit, especially when I'm eating out, too messy.

Yummy Judy... But I guess very fiddly.

I made a curry for lunch with left over cold chicken, it was excellent, and tonight I made the 5:2 carrot/lentil soup with chicken stock and added passata left over from the curry and added in even more left overs - cherry tomatoes and garlic cooked in olive oil from tea. It tastes really good. I have more chicken stock bones overnight in the Aga, making second batch of stock from the same bones.

I have also put yellow split peas to soak tonight, and cut up some veg and diced the leftover Xmas ham ready to make pea and ham soup tmro.

A soupy sort of day!

This was the olive/walnut bread we had with the baked tomatoes and garlic for tea. Based on chookies no fuss.

A lovely looking loaf DJ, wish it was winter here for soups etc ;D

No cooking for me today, although I might BBQ some sausages to make astarra's 'filled sausages' recipe for the freezer. I ended up steaming a piece of pickled pork around 9 pm last night then because I was still awake at 2 am I got up and put a pulled beef recipe in the SC. GD loves it so I need to have some in the freezer in case she descents on me again during the school holidays.

The cherry meringues held up well overnight - the recipe says to keep them at room temperature and I did wonder how they'd go.  At least now I know they can be prepared many hours ahead in case I did want to do them again.   I might have to farm some out to others today to help me eat them though.

Finishing off the pulled beef recipe this morning when DD rang, very timely as it means I can now provide tea for them when child-minding.  So, instead of lots of little beef pots, I have 1 big one.

With perhaps cherry meringues for dessert. It has all worked out well for you Judy.

I have just made some sort of chocolate icecream.

Fab cooking girls.  Jilly's Apple, raspberries and peach pie. Very rustic looking.
