I also made Anzac biscuits and added some Macadamia nuts.
Had an interesting talk with a lady in a coffee shop. She has been making a syrup from pine cones and brown sugar. Will give it a try.

Chookie that is an interesting combination.

Yesterday I started as new SD recipe. It was supposed to be a one-day bake. I had to add much less water to the mix and it has taken 2 days to make. It has been very cold here. I haven't cut it yet.

Cookie, that looks perfect. Well worth the trouble.
My friend and I picked a bucket of Cumquats whilst away. I have made one lot of jam in the TMX. Today I’ll make jelly as they are full of pips.

KAtie, I just make up my soup recipes. This one had spring onions, carrot, capsicum 1 very small potato and chicken breast. Lots of parsley. I also add some of my frozen garlic, ginger and onion mix. used low salt chicken stock. I sauté the veggies in a little oil.
The cumquats have been dripping all night so will make jelly today. I’ll also make SD crumpets. I love making jams and jellies in the TMX.

The bread and soup both look nice and tasty, just right for this cold weather.  Chookie, your frozen garlic ginger and onion mix sounds interesting, is it done in the tmx?

During the week I made some cheese & ham scrolls and some piroskis.  The big one is made of all the left over fillings.  They only lasted one day as DS and a friend came in and finished them off.

Margaret this is a previous posing of Chookie’s

‘I bought a large bag of peeled garlic. I’m mincing it with fresh ginger and spring onion in TMX to form a paste. I freeze this in snack bags to add to stir fries and soups.’

When I asked for specific amounts of the ingredients her response was

‘I use roughly one bunch of spring onions, while part, 1/2 to 3/4 cup of ginger and almost a cup of peeled garlic cloves. Could use 1/2 a brown onion instead.of spring onions.’

I’ve posted it in Condiment & Sauces for future reference.

I’ve started on food for the kids’ next visit next week. Made RTE spinach & ricotta rolls and whilst they were cooking and I was tidying up I found the container of shredded Parmesan cheese on the window ledge!  Told DD I couldn’t guarantee these would have much taste without this cheese and suggested I toss them but she’s prepared to give them a go and I daresay she will dip them in some spicy sauce to add to the taste. Could have kicked myself, it’s a messy recipe to make and I was disappointed I failed miserably in its execution.

Judy, thank you for that.  It sounds like something that would be very handy to have in the freezer.   Judy it wouldn't be the first time I have found forgotten ingredients on the bench after cooking.  It's usually eggs for me.  I have been known to take something out of the oven and add whatever I had forgotten and then put it back in the oven.
