Hi CP - which recipe do you use for the Red Velvet cake?  I did see one on Andie's site that used cherry puree and grenadine syrup instead of the usual red food colouring.

This morning cooked up some beef and Guinness and a green Thai chicken curry.  T'ther night tried Gert's pizza base that she adapted from the Jamie Oliver recipe . . .the words, "miraculously awesome"  come nowhere near describing that one!!  Have been hammering on to friends about how fantastic this one is . . particularly for those in larger households!  Thanks, Gert!! :D :D :D :D :D

How did he do that Mandi?  Yes, a great pair indeed, will he be having some time off or will he carry on as usual?

He was loading a trailer with rubbish from a friends house and cut his arm on and old TV (somehow). I'm glad I wasn't there as it sounded pretty horrible with lots of blood. He needed 4 stitches inside to stop the bleeding then another 10 to pull it all together.
As for work we will have to see how he feels, I think light duties for the week might be a good idea.
I would say it will be sore tomorrow.

Haha urrm no photo thanks dede hope he is ok..

Jd the party went well.. Everyone had a great time and i have to translate some recipes i made for some friends... Everytime i cook i need to translate as well and if the recipe is a conversion its converted and translated and sometimes translated twice.. One normal version and one thx version lol.. Sometimes it get tiring and i just feel like saying urrrm no the recipe is a family secret lol!!

We had teninas pizza base again for lunch but i used a new flour (organic and looked wholemeal which wasnt stated on the packet) as i ran out of my bin flour stock and the pizza was no where near as good.. The flour really makes it divine so im off to the mill this week to buy another 40kg bag...but this time im splitting it with a girlfriend

Made some fudgy wudgy biscuits, lamingtons and trying soft herb rolls. If any good I will post the recipe later (the dough smells divine though)
Hope hubby is OK dede. Light duties should be in order. Don't want the wound to open up.
How did the fudgy wudgy biscuits go? Would like to give them a go as they sound yummy.

Today I have made a blueberry protein smoothie for breakfast, pizza dough, sweet potato gnocchi.

I am also hoping to make the sauce for the gnocchi which is creamy sundried tomato sauce, garlic quinoa and some kind of biscuit if all goes well.

Yes definitely light duties for a few days. I dread him ringing me to say that he needs it re stitched.

And as for the fudgy wudgy biscuits they are great, I have made them several times now. For school I leave out the nuts, but the kids still love them. Worth trying (yum yum) :)

Hi CP - which recipe do you use for the Red Velvet cake?

I can't remember the origins of where I got it initially (maybe Thermovixens?), but its in 'that' book ;) I have never made Red Velvet cupcakes before, and that was one that I just threw in to try as there was a spare page on the back. They were not an airy texture, and the colour was more pinky than red due to the brown cacoa. I didn't think the tablespoon measure of red colouring was over the top compared to some recipes I've seen and I suppose if you weren't worried about the baddies in the colouring you could add a tad more to give a richer colour. I had to keep adding icing sugar to the cream cheese icing to get the right consistency so it could be piped, to the point where I just stopped and gave up the dream of piping, and then popped a cherry on top.
