I also would love to see your recipe for Mustard Fruits,andiesenji.    I have made some for Xmas presents. The recipe came from The New Zealand Woman's Weekly.    I chose it because it had both mustard and mustard seeds.

I've made marmalade and for dinner we're having marinated chicken breasts in the varoma. I hope to start a few Christmas things to put in the freezer soon-I just need the time.
May all dairy items in your fridge be of questionable vintage.

Steamed the christmas puddings - BUT forgot to put foil over the top first  :o so they were soggy  >:(. Tried to dry them out in the oven but it was too late - ruined  :'(  BUMMER!!!

For dinner made spag bol and then vanilla custard served with homemade icecream and preserved peaches. But my feet have come up covered in a rash (no idea why!).

Hoping to make some items for Christmas hampers soon.

I made corn bread out of the UK cookbook today and it didn't go down well with my eldest son.  He has been trying to copy his Dad lately in complimenting my cooking and I could see he wasn't quite sure what to say today. His eventual response to the cornbread was "Good job making this yucky cornbread that falls apart Mummy".  I had to have a giggle at his "compliment" and the sincerity on his little face.  :)

I'll have to type it up in Word because I've never entered it into the computer.   I have it on file cards with lots of notes and corrections as it has evolved somewhat over the years.

I do use candied or glacé fruits so you have to do those first.   Dried fruits are okay too, as long as they are fairly soft.

Thanks andisenji,   when you have time.     Our dried fruits are generally of a very good standard as most are grown in the north of the state.    I used a mixture of both glace and dried.    Seemed to work ok.

OMG - hope you didn't throw the mixture out ?? !!!!!!! - you can "save" it by just adding some soft breadcrumbs, another egg and re-steam them.

If  only  I'd read that an hour ago...  :o :'( :'( just did another batch, but it was still soggy after they were steamed - so the bin ate them with the remainder of the mixture  :-[

We had root vegetable salad, spelt rolls and soup with cauliflower, potatoes, chickpeas and indian spices.

What a shame! Think we have all learnt a lesson here. Don't ever throw it out! Ask on here how to SAVE it! Maybe someone can help! Even give us a clue as how to use it up maybe in another recipe, (thats NOT soup or icecream, JD!) ;) ;) ;)

What a disaster ILB. Couldn't you have disguised them with custard?  What recipe did you use? I hope to do some mini ones in the next few days for guests over the holidays using the Festive cookbook recipe.

It was Leisa Montfry's version. I think I may have over mixed it???  She made some for 2 cooking classes and they were divine!!! So I don't know what happened to mine.  :(

Think I'll just do the Sago one as that's the families perferred version anyway....

No cooking for me today - I'm going through my cookbooks working out what I'm making for xmas! ???
Kids broke up today so currently have a couple of 13 year olds in the kitchen making cupcakes.
