Kathryn, I'm exhausted just reading that.

ditto - faffa_70 you should think about becoming an advocate for the time saving capacity of the TMX  ;D ;D ;D ;D

Why did you have to take DH to work at that unholy hour?  ( I didn't think clocks started in the morning until 6 )

ROFL - it was DS2 that had to go to work not DH - Though he is normally out the door at 6.45am on a week day and my DD is awake between 5 and 5.30 each day so ILB send her over, we could do with some more females in this house  ;D ;D ;D ;D

Turns out it hasn't been as hot as they forecast today but glad to have it out the way. Mine all sleep through the TMX now as they have got used to it going first thing in the morning. Even with ice and grain being used - like it or lump it I say  ;) ;) ;)

About to get in and have a crack at a few more things before I start dinner - might get a stock pile again of biscuit dough back in the freezer for school.

HI - have been reading lots and not posting much, so time to change that!

Today I made - Anzac biscuits from EDC (first time, pretty yummy), Choc fudge with Grand Marnier (waiting for that to set - almost ready to try with some port!), coleslaw to go with bought chook, and Fruity Dream from EDC with raspberries (some we got on hol in Tassie and froze). Yummo!

So that is a big day for me!
Have been reading all these great bread recipes, so will do some this week I think. Have only ever done the basic bread, so keen to try Isi's rolls or the fruit bread (sorry, not sure who posted that).

That's it for today!

Have been out all day, bought spices and vegies to make things out of the Indian Cookbook.  New,  and looks good.  Did make Thermoconvert's Sweet Chilli sauce.  Very easy and tasty.   Bought 5 new chooks as the old girls are past their laying best.   Bought the green olives to make isi's olives in a crust for our Australia day celebrations .

Very lazy today. Made some veggie stock and for dinner cooked up some pasta, mixed it with some pesto I made yesterday, some leftover baked pumpkin and put parmesan on it. It was very tasty and very easy.

I've been standing for awhile, cooking a stack of crepes.  Got the idea after writing about a "blintz party" on another food forum and developed a hankering for blintzes.  (Tomorrow's brunch.)

It has always amazed me at just how many crepes can be made from such a small amount of batter.  I keep making them and the level of batter in the bowl never seems to reduce.
In fact, I became fatigued and stuck the bowl into the fridge, and am taking a break with my feet up.

I'm going to delve into the TMX archives, both here and on the other sites and search for ideas for filling the crepes.
I have my old standards but thought something new might be nice.

More later.........

Yesterday I only used the TM to make pastry for a lemon meringue pie I made using an old recipe.  I tried making the filling in the TM using my recipe but the EDC's method. It turned out only mildly thick, not enough to set for the pie, also very pale.  Tastes lovely though so I added some cream and whizzed, then put into a container and chilled overnight to churn today into a lemon icecream.
I ended up doing the filling the old way on the stove top which only takes a few mins and turns out wonderful.

Today I'm making Judy's broccoli & cheese soup and a loaf to go with it.   :)

Your family are sure into their sweets JulieO ;) ;)  Looks wonderful.  The ice-cream should taste nice too.

Hi All,

Faffa you mentioned in a post about frozen cookie dough for school lunches - I'm sure I have seen a recipe somewhere but despite searching cannot not locate.  Could you please post the recipe when you get a minute?

I haven't been cooking much - had minor surgery on my knee last week so have been sitting quite a bit!  Although I have managed to make chilli and dips  yesterday and hope make a risotto tonight!

Thanks,

SYLVIA

Are the chooks going into the stock pot? or retired to pasture?

Good to hear you have the Indian cookbook.  Do you buy your spices in Moonee Ponds?  There are a couple of spice shops there.

Sylvia, I am really terrible and will turn any dough into freezer dough by either adding a little more flour to make it stiff or turning the dough out on to the thermomat wrapping it up and putting it in the fridge for a while, then rolling into a sausage (again on the mat)

I first got the idea from Dani's blog http://www.thekitchenplayground.com/2009/mums-best-friend-freezer-biscuit-dough/ and use her foundation dough a lot as well as the variations she has listed.

Having 5 lunches to pack a day we go through a few as well as the odd snack or two, but don't mind so much as I make them as healthy as I can as well, often reducing the sugar and adding wholemeal flour etc when I can.

Love the Choc chip and chickpea ones that are on the fourm - also looking at other ways to add "stuff" as well will keep you all posted when I have successfully hidden things lol

Like the Sorcerer's Apprentice  - might double while your waiting !!  but I know what you mean - maybe you should invite your friends around to cook their own?

Can't wait - smoked salmon and sour cream on blintzes - yes.
