I've made a batch of yoghurt, and made the Sauerkraut Salad from the Thermie Living Magazine. If you like Sauerkraut you will love this salad. :)

Great way to make a loaf in summer without heating up the kitchen. I tried baking in the bbq but wasn't overly successful.

I love sauerkraut.  :P

Yes Judy, SC loaf.  Think it needed 5 to 10 minutes more and next time I will put a towel on the top of lid to keep more heat in at the top.  Pretty good and only one rise and that in the pot. I measured it after it cooled and it had shrunk about 3 cm so although thermometer said cooked I think it needs more time.

Mine appeared to after I cut it whilst it was still too warm but once it went cold, I was very happy with it. I'm still going to experiment with different recipes and different times too.

Michele,  bit tricky cooking the bread in the BBQ.  This is easier.  With the BBQ needs to be a covered one,  you need to do a first rise,  form the loaf, put into cast iron pot that has been lined with damp newspaper, ( Gert's idea),  heat up BBQ to 200,  place a wire rack on The grill to keep the bread container off the plate.  If it has 2 burners,  once heated,  turn off the center burners.  Place the cast iron pot on grill and bake for 30 mins.  Remove lid , and continue baking until cooked.

No wonder that it wasn't real good. Sounds complicated. Will give the slow cooker a go.  :D

A big day today, DH's family came for lunch and saw DD off at the airport for her first overseas trip without the family - just her and her boyfriend.

For lunch we had Shand Delia 12 hour lamb, olive and pistachio tabouli made with quinoa, Parmesan bread sticks, babaganoush, tatziki, Beetroot salad from Teninas a Merry Xmas book, roast potatoes and rolls (not homemade). It was a big rush but worth it in the end with very little leftovers.

That sounds lovely Wonder. Where is DD heading?

Who would have ever believed you could make bread in the slow cooker? Well done Chookie and Judy. I had planned to make some muffins this afternoon but I was reading my book club book and drifted off to sleep. I doubt if I will get it finished as it isn't really interesting me much.

I made a green smoothy in the morning, then the edc iced coffee for morning tea. And then the creamy icecream, it's still a bit soft after over 10hrs in the freezer, but still so yummy.
