thanks everyone for the good wishes on our holiday.  We sat on our balcony, above the pier,  and watched the fire works.   really spectacular.   We ate chocolates, Tasmanian of course and drank champers.   donated by the Hotel.   We ate mostly sea food as it is REALLY special,  and hoped Princess Mary would have her twins while we were there.   No go.   They will come when they are ready.   Although the food in Tassie is special,  the Bread that is readily available is awful.  just like Victorian supermarket bread.   Guess what the first thing I made this morning?  yes bread!!  Going to have a go at Mongolian Lamb today from MOTM.   Will let you know how it goes.  tassie is VERY SPECIAL ,  so any one thinking of going there I couldn't recommend it enough.  The people are friendly ,  the creative artists are inspiring and they even know about TMX.

What a lovely report of Tassie Chookie.  It is a really lovely place to visit (or live ;)) and I do agree the bread is shocking.  We got home from the beach house yesterday (where we had been eating bought bread) and I let Hubby unpack while I got started on a loaf of homemade bread. It was greatly appreciated by all!!!  :)

Glad your holiday went well Chookie.  How we would have loved to have joined you on the balcony watching the fireworks, eating and drinking.  Guess you have already booked again for next year ?

My first lot of cooking for the year today. Made pancakes for breakfast, isi's baked pasta & ham dish for lunch, ice-cream and Chookies bread rolls.

today is a 'play' day.   I have made a loaf of sour dough bread,  from starter that hasn't been fed for 2 months.   It sat over night and is cooking now,  I think it will be fine.    I am experimenting with  MINI MACS.   This will be my contribution to the Australia Day Celebrations.    Today was baking roll day,  to get the look I am after.   Got it,  but also got lovely mini dinner rolls.   Will post when I have finished  and got the recipe as I want it.

Not a heck of a lot of baking round here lately as it's so hot. I am a real whinger when the heat arrives. :'( Sorbets for all snacks.
I'm out of bread so I'll have to make some later today. Most main meals are on the barbie. DH gets to do them then. ;D

Cookie,  does your BBQ have a lid?   If it does you could
cook your bread in it.   You would need to put a wire rack over the plate and experiment with temp and time.  it would keep the heat put side.   I would start with small rolls cooked on a muffin tin.

Cookie further to chookie's suggestion regarding the BBQ for cooking bread and using a wire rack over the grill/plate, put a piece of afoil folded with dull side out to help diffuse some of the direct heat - this works perfectly for pizzas. I used to end up with burnt bases on roasts or pizzas before being told this trick. Cheers - Robyn  :)

So glad you had a wonderful trip Chookie  :-* I'm off there again on Australia Day for work and will be there for a week. Mainly around the Tamar Valley area.  It's so beautiful that I look forward to getting lost and enjoying the scenery  ;) :D :D 8)

Chookie, sounds like a lovely break.

Today I made, smoothie, mustard (sooo impressed how easy this is and got a major thumbs up from the girls - just like the other stuff - was the comment), pate, blitzed some garlic and herbs to put on leftover tortillas with mozarella to make cheesy garlic pizza type things for lunch to go with salad, then for dinner made a vegie soup (served with a rather interesting assortment of leftovers, but that's cleared the fridge, there was leftover beef in beer casserole, pork belly from last night (only 2 pieces so the kids didn't get a look in at that), rice and dd3 wanted pasta)
Here is my mustard

Yesterday I made pasta.  I love how easy it is to make the dough in the TMX.  Love it, love it, love it  ;D

Today I made Thai Red Chicken Curry, Condensed & Evaporated Milk Icecream & Halva Flapjacks (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=4849.0) with the leftover condensed milk.  All very delicious.

Yesterday I made chocolate chip scones from the FEC.  Just their basic scone recipe with the addition of chocolate chips.  Was really tired but decided to knock them together at the last minute.  Was really rather glad I had as I just couldn't get out of bed this morning and by the time I did, the boys had helped themselves to a breakfast of choc chip scones!!

Today I made more of Isi's very normal bread rolls, then I ordered myself a Pullman loaf tin so I can make an authentic sandwich loaf.  I also made shepherd's pie, the potatoes I boiled on the stove but the lamb mince mix was in the done in the  *:  Its the second time I've done it this way - adapted from a Delia Smith recipe but the mince mix is pretty "sloppy" so I need to play around with the added liquid.

As we speak the Varoma is steaming my veggies to go with the pie :)
