Jadey they are not usually crumbly, did you reduce the amount of butter? I found when I reduced the butter I needed to add the egg white as well to the recipe.

No dede,
Butter is the one thing I would never reduce lol.
I normally like soft chewy cookies too and these ended up crunchy so I wonder if I should give it another go maybe pre butter less flour? LoL

This will now be my go to recipe for choc chip cookies, thanks Dede! I was pushed for time so chucked in the whole egg, which might be why they spread a little more than expected - still nice and crunchy though. Next time I'll try cutting down the sugar a bit, I doubt the kids would notice!

I always cut down I the sugar now and no one has even noticed. They still eat them just as quick

Thank you so much for the recipe - they're amazing. I replaced 50gms of the butter with copha and they were crunchy on the outside and beautifully chewy on the inside. This morning's batch is almost all gone :-)
Any tips on stopping the chips sinking to the bottom of the mix.

Toss them in flour before adding them Cuddle_cook, that should do the trick.

DD just made a batch, she got me to separate the egg for her, wasn't till they were in the oven we noticed she put the egg white in instead of the yolk. But still turned out perfect.
