I am gobsmacked about how much you can save by not giving in to temptation to stock up unnecessarily. It is amazing.

Agree.  I am finding it amazing how much I can save.  Unfortunately  I am spending on other things.  Needed a new microwave.  Did a good deal and the grocery savings paid for it.
Need 4 tyres.  We are on a dirt road and they get worn down fairly quickly.  It is also important that we have good ones so that we don't slip on the roads when wet.  We are also paying a bit more to shop locally.

I have just stocked up my freezer, having run it down recently. I haven't baked for weeks and weeks and have used up all the cakes and bickies. I will need to find the mojo to bake some sweet things and can ease back on the shopping now.  :D

Chookie, the word, "amazing." simply doesn't cover it!  What an absolutely wonderful meal!  You're incredible!!  You take those muffins to the swap tomorrow and they won't last 2 minutes!! ;D ;D

It's fridge and freezer checking time again for me tonight to see what I can come up with over the weekend. . .   :)

You never cease to amaze me with your efforts Chookie.  When so many have lost their mojo you just keep on keeping on - what's the name again of those batteries which power you LOL.

I found minestrone soup in the freezer the other night, added mince and we had savoury mince.

Used up the lamb roast this afternoon on a Teriyaki lamb pizza.

Great idea INAID, did you brown off the mince first or just add it to the soup and cook it that way?

Have really cleaned out fridge as we are going away.  Used the last of potatoes, froze some pumpkin,  made curry and pumpkin pies to use up curry.  Made Tarte Tatin to use up apples and puff pastry from pie trimmings.  Used a chicken breast from freezer to make Chicken Kiev. Gourmet food and no grocery bill.  Love this thread.

Even though I wasn't really involved in doing this I find it has made me think twice when doing my menu plan. We are still eating food I bought for Monkey Mia.  ;)
May all dairy items in your fridge be of questionable vintage.

Me too Cookie. We are low on meat/chicken in the freezer, in an effort to eat it down, defrost and maybe turn it off until the next time we need it for a party, entertaining etc.
