I am reluctant to enter the comp because what if one day I wanted to do my own Thermomix cookbook (which is a possibility) then I no longer own my own recipes :-\

I thought that at the beginning and have avoided the site since. I don't want TMX Australia to own my recipes and everything I do goes on my blog first. It's firstly a record for me of what I make and any tweaks/recipes etc I use (as well as being hopefully a helpful record for new/hopeful users into the daily life of a tmx as that's why I started it)
I did think of creating a recipe to enter the competition but then decided it wasn't what I was about - but the prizes sound good!!

Just come home so have missed all this flurry of conversation here.  I noticed my Prawn Crepe recipe which I won first prize for on one of H.O.'s competitions (the dinner party one) has shown up on the new forum with no reference to me at all.  One of my soup recipes is there with a slight difference in amount of stock (she used less stock and added some water to make up the same amount as I used in stock) and one of ILB's is also there - no mention of where they got it from.  I'm not going to kick up a fuss, will just let them do it their way but I agree with you girls re your blogs.  Too many rules if you ask me and if they want to keep members, they will have to loosen them a bit I feel.  I've made a few comments on some threads but cannot see how to start a thread myself and all my recipes will only be posted on our forum (unless someone pinches them and puts their name to it  :-)) :-)).)

Well that is not on really as far as I am concerned. They need to reference people who have developed or converted the recipes!! Especially if they haven't asked permission prior to uploading.

grrr not very ethical then!!!
So they don't name their sources but you can't publish anywhere else. mmm not my style.
the TMX community that I've seen is much more giving than that. But then again it's very inkeeping with HO's way of thinking ie you can't buy things without a demo etc.
All sort of good ideas, but they don't work for everyone and can be damaging in some instances.

 ???  I don't get that either  ???
I think this forum is very respectful of each persons own recipes......and I guess we assume everyone else to do the same  :-\

I think Tenina needed recipes for the community and used whatever she had in her database, and I know she said to Thermomixer (Jeff) that he should come on and claim the ones that were his, so I thought I'd do that too, but don't know how???  The ones she added aren't entered in the competition, so I guess they're not 'owned' by Thermomix - isn't that right, Meagan?  I think from what I understand it's just the ones in the competition that they 'keep' - I guess then if they're put into a book, they're not already 'out there' and they're more special and new, or something.  ??? ??? ???

I am not sure Jo it is just my interpretation of the legal wording in the rules for the comp.

I haven't read any info about the community recipes that aren't in the comp.

But I think they will own all recipes submitted to the competition ( I think they may also own your photo as well) and then I suppose they can be used/included in publications Thermomix in Australia publishes in the future. Or at least that is how I read it. I have messaged Tenina to ask her a couple of things re ownership of recipes etc but that was only today and she is yet to respond.

Oh truly, it's totally ridiculous. I'm cancelling my membership there and removing it from my bookmarks. I hate those sort of rules and regs.
I've removed my recipes that were entered in the comp. Just go to edit and delete everything. I left an explanation and a title 'Recipe Removed'
A great cook is one who can rustle up a fabulous family meal with some freezer burnt chops, wilted carrots, sprouting potatoes and cabbage that's gone brown on the cut edges.

Sounds so much like the way HO treats their consultants. it's okay for the consultants to spend their own money to promote the TM, while HO doesn't do much in the way of advertising. From what I've seen, they squeeze everything out of the consultants that they can - everything is done voluntarily. Is it like this just in Australia, or is it like this with Thermomix all around the world.

I'm reluctant to have too much to do with RC because they have access to our isp address and can work out who we are and where we live (i think - i know the police can tell where emails come from from the isp address), so all they have to do is link up our isp with the isp we used to register on (is big brother making me paranoid??).

I hope I have read the rules correctly  ???. Please read through them yourselves and make up your own mind. I don't want anyone to make decisions based on my interpretation  ??? It is such a shame that the people who are on the recipe community lose out on seeing such great recipes MJ, if they don't come over here or know about us here. It is a shame. I feel like I should have kept my mouth shut ( or my fingers still so to speak)   :-[  :-)) :-\
